Overview

GT-211 is a synthetic peptide formulation of thymosin beta 4 (Tβ4) currently under development by HLB Therapeutics (formerly GtreeBNT) for the treatment of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). Thymosin beta 4 is a naturally occurring 43-amino acid protein that regulates actin polymerization and exhibits potent anti-inflammatory, anti-fibrotic, and regenerative properties. In DMD models, GT-211 aims to mitigate muscle wasting by promoting the migration and differentiation of muscle progenitor cells, reducing the replacement of muscle tissue with fibrous scars, and protecting cardiac muscle from damage. The U.S. FDA granted Orphan Drug Designation to GT-211 for the treatment of DMD in 2018.
