Overview

GT-peptide-10 is a synthetic antimicrobial peptide developed by Difa Cooper (General Topics S.r.l.) for the topical treatment of acne vulgaris and related inflammatory skin conditions such as hidradenitis suppurativa. It is a core component of the Aknicare product line under the Synchroline brand. The peptide's primary mechanism of action involves targeting and disrupting the biofilms produced by *Cutibacterium acnes* (formerly *Propionibacterium acnes*), which are often resistant to traditional antibiotics. By breaking down these biofilms, GT-peptide-10 exerts potent antibacterial effects and reduces skin inflammation. In clinical applications, it is frequently formulated in combination with triethyl citrate (TEC) and ethyl linoleate to provide a synergistic effect on the multifactorial pathogenesis of acne, including sebum control and bacterial colonization.
