Overview

GT719 is an investigational, allogeneic ("universal") cell therapy consisting of invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells genetically engineered to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) targeting CD19. Developed by Grit Biotechnology, GT719 is designed to treat B-cell mediated immune-mediated kidney diseases by depleting CD19-positive B cells and leveraging the unique immunomodulatory properties of iNKT cells. Unlike conventional CAR-T cells, iNKT cells do not typically cause graft-versus-host disease (GvHD), making them suitable for "off-the-shelf" applications. The therapy is currently being evaluated in clinical trials for refractory or high-risk conditions including IgA nephropathy, membranous nephropathy, and ANCA-associated vasculitis.
