Overview

GTI-847 is a small molecule inhibitor of S-nitrosoglutathione reductase (GSNOR) developed by GSNO Therapeutics. GSNOR is a key enzyme that regulates the levels of S-nitrosoglutathione (GSNO), the most abundant endogenous S-nitrosothiol and a major mediator of nitric oxide (NO) bioactivity. By inhibiting GSNOR, GTI-847 increases the levels of GSNO, thereby enhancing NO-mediated signaling pathways that possess potent anti-inflammatory, anti-fibrotic, and antioxidant properties. GTI-847 is characterized as a strong inhibitor within the company's pipeline and is currently in preclinical development for a broad range of conditions, including inflammatory, oxidant-based, mitochondrial, and fibrotic diseases.
