GTI-894 is a potent small molecule inhibitor of S-nitrosoglutathione reductase (GSNOR), currently in preclinical development by GSNO Therapeutics. GSNOR is a key enzyme that regulates the levels of S-nitrosoglutathione (GSNO), the primary endogenous reservoir of nitric oxide (NO) bioactivity. By inhibiting GSNOR, GTI-894 prevents the degradation of GSNO, thereby enhancing protein S-nitrosylation and restoring NO homeostasis. This mechanism is intended to treat a variety of conditions characterized by inflammation, fibrosis, and oxidative stress. GTI-894 is part of a broader pipeline of GSNOR inhibitors being evaluated for therapeutic applications in respiratory, metabolic, cardiovascular, and inflammatory diseases.
