Overview

GTI-895 is a small molecule inhibitor of S-nitrosoglutathione reductase (GSNOR) being developed by GSNO Therapeutics. GSNOR is a key enzyme that regulates the levels of S-nitrosoglutathione (GSNO), which serves as a stable endogenous reservoir for nitric oxide (NO) bioactivity. By inhibiting GSNOR, GTI-895 increases the concentration of GSNO, thereby enhancing S-nitrosylation and nitric oxide-mediated signaling pathways. This mechanism is intended to provide anti-inflammatory, anti-fibrotic, and antioxidant effects. GTI-895 is currently in preclinical development and is being investigated for its potential in treating a wide range of conditions, including inflammatory, oxidant-based, mitochondrial, and fibrotic diseases.
