Overview

GTN040 is a small molecule derivative of Komaroviquinone (KQN) being investigated for its ability to induce immunogenic cell death (ICD) in multiple myeloma cells. It promotes the cell surface expression of calreticulin (CRT) and the release of damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) such as ATP and HMGB1. These processes lead to the maturation of dendritic cells, characterized by increased expression of HLA-DR, CD80, and CD83, potentially enhancing the efficacy of cancer immunotherapies. The compound was identified through screening a library of GTN compounds by researchers at Keio University and the National Cancer Center Research Institute in Japan.
