GTSE1 siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of the G2 and S phase-expressed protein 1 (GTSE1). GTSE1 is a microtubule-associated protein that plays a critical role in the cell cycle, particularly during the G2/M transition and in the regulation of p53. It is frequently overexpressed in various malignancies, including pancreatic, lung, esophageal, and endometrial cancers, where it contributes to cancer cell immortalization, proliferation, and survival. By targeting GTSE1 mRNA for degradation, GTSE1 siRNA inhibits cell growth, induces cell cycle arrest, and triggers apoptosis, often through the activation of caspases 2 and 3. Preclinical research has demonstrated that GTSE1 knockdown can sensitize cancer cells to standard chemotherapeutic agents such as gemcitabine, paclitaxel, and cisplatin, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic strategy for treatment-resistant tumors.
