Overview
Gu Ben Zhi Ke is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formulation commonly used in syrup form to support respiratory health and relieve chronic cough. It is indicated for symptoms such as warm-dry cough, cough with scant or sticky sputum due to lung qi deficiency, dry and sore throat, hoarse voice, phlegm heat accumulation in the lungs, blood-stained or difficult expectoration, and chronic bronchitis. The formula is designed to clear heat from the lungs, dispel phlegm related to endogenous wind-heat or dryness-phlegm syndromes in TCM theory. Preclinical studies suggest that Gu Ben Zhi Ke may alleviate lung injury by inhibiting the HMGB1/NF-κB pathway—thereby reducing inflammation and pulmonary fibrosis[2][3]. This product is marketed as a dietary supplement rather than an approved pharmaceutical drug.
