Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gu Shen Juan Yu Formula (GSJYF) is a multi-herb Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) decoction specifically formulated for the treatment of proteinuric kidney diseases, with a focus on inherited conditions such as Alport syndrome. Developed primarily by researchers at Peking University First Hospital, the formula is designed to target podocyte injury and promote the repair of the glomerular filtration barrier. It is typically utilized as an adjunct therapy to standard-of-care treatments, such as renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) inhibitors (ACE inhibitors or ARBs), to further reduce residual proteinuria and slow the progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the loss of estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). The formula exerts its effects through multi-target actions, particularly by stabilizing structural proteins in the podocyte slit diaphragm and mitigating inflammatory damage.
