Overview

Gu-Sui-Bu is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) derived from the rhizome of *Davallia divaricata* (or *Drynaria fortunei*). It is being investigated by the National Taiwan University Hospital for its therapeutic potential in treating postmenopausal osteoporosis. Traditionally used to promote bone healing and treat fractures, Gu-Sui-Bu is thought to exert its effects by stimulating osteoblast proliferation and differentiation while inhibiting osteoclast activity. These pharmacological actions are largely attributed to its flavonoid content, particularly naringin, which may act as a phytoestrogen or modulate bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signaling pathways to enhance bone mineral density.
