Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gua Xie Xin Tong Di Wan (瓜薤心通滴丸) is a novel Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) drug under development for the treatment of coronary heart disease and angina pectoris. It is designed to address conditions characterized by "chest yang deficiency and phlegm-stasis obstructing the collaterals" (胸阳不振、痰瘀阻络) according to TCM principles. Clinical studies have indicated its potential to improve clinical efficacy, regulate blood lipid levels (specifically total cholesterol), and enhance hemorheology in affected patients. The drug has also demonstrated effects such as improving myocardial tolerance to ischemia and hypoxia, inhibiting platelet aggregation, preventing atherosclerosis, and reducing thrombus formation. Developed by a consortium led by Hubei Fuguan Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., it has completed Phase II clinical trials and is slated to enter Phase III.
