Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Guacetisal is a small molecule drug used primarily for the treatment of inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract, such as chronic bronchitis and other airway conditions. Chemically, it is an ester formed from acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) and guaiacol. Guacetisal exhibits anti-inflammatory, antitussive (cough-suppressing), expectorant (mucus-thinning), antipyretic (fever-reducing), and analgesic properties. It has been shown to be effective in both acute and chronic respiratory diseases by reducing inflammation and improving mucus clearance[1][3][4][6][8]. The drug was originally synthesized by Bayer Italia S.p.A.
