Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Guangdong South China Pharmaceutical Group BCL-2 inhibitor is a preclinical small molecule therapeutic being developed for the treatment of hematologic malignancies. This asset is the result of a collaboration between the Guangdong South China Pharmaceutical Group (also known as the South China Center for Innovative Pharmaceuticals) and the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica (SIMM). The drug's mechanism of action involves the selective inhibition of B-cell lymphoma 2 (BCL-2), an anti-apoptotic protein that is frequently overexpressed in various blood cancers, allowing malignant cells to evade programmed cell death. By antagonizing BCL-2, the compound aims to restore the natural apoptotic pathway, leading to the death of tumor cells. It is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
