Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Guanjie Zhitong Gao is a traditional Chinese medicated plaster (topical patch) used for the relief of joint pain, rheumatic pain, and sprains. It is formulated based on principles of traditional Chinese medicine to promote blood circulation, remove blood stasis, reduce inflammation, and relieve pain. The product typically contains a combination of herbal ingredients and topical analgesics such as camphor and menthol. Its mechanism of action involves local counterirritation (producing a cooling or warming sensation that distracts from deeper musculoskeletal pain), anti-inflammatory effects from herbal components like Boswellia sacra bark and Commiphora myrrha top (myrrh), as well as increased local blood flow[1][3][4]. It is available over-the-counter in China and some international markets.
