Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Guanxin Danshen is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation widely utilized for the treatment of cardiovascular conditions, particularly coronary heart disease (CHD) and angina pectoris. The standard formulation consists of three primary components: *Salvia miltiorrhiza* (Danshen), *Panax notoginseng* (Sanqi), and Borneol (Bingpian). It is most commonly administered in the form of **dropping pills** (Diwan), a modern pharmaceutical dosage form designed to enhance bioavailability and provide a rapid onset of action. The drug functions by promoting blood circulation, resolving blood stasis, and alleviating chest pain (angina). Clinical research, including trials registered in the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry (ChiCTR), has investigated its efficacy in reducing inflammatory markers in unstable angina and improving the quality of life and cardiovascular prognosis in patients experiencing depression or anxiety following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
