Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Guanxinning Tablet is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation composed of extracts from *Salvia miltiorrhiza* (Danshen) and *Ligusticum chuanxiong* (Chuanxiong). It is an established treatment for stable exertional angina and is being investigated for its potential to improve coronary microcirculation in patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) following primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI). The tablet contains active components such as tanshinone IIA, salvianolic acid B, and tetramethylpyrazine, which provide anti-atherosclerotic effects through anti-inflammatory activity, inhibition of LDL oxidation, and suppression of vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation. Additionally, it offers microvascular protection by regulating autophagy and inhibiting apoptosis and platelet adhesion.
