Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Guardix-SP Plus is a thermo-sensitive, injectable anti-adhesion barrier designed to prevent post-operative adhesions following surgical procedures, particularly in spine surgery (such as laminectomy or discectomy). Developed by Genewel, it is a sol-gel formulation composed of Poloxamer 407 and Sodium Alginate. The product exists in a liquid (sol) state at room temperature, facilitating precise application to the surgical site, and undergoes a phase transition to a viscous gel at body temperature. This gel acts as a temporary physical barrier that separates internal tissues and organs during the critical healing period, thereby reducing the incidence of fibrous adhesion formation, which can lead to post-operative pain and complications.
