Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Guben Kechuan is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula used for the treatment of chronic respiratory diseases such as bronchial asthma and chronic bronchitis. It is available in various formulations including granules, capsules, and tablets. The formula is clinically proven to relieve cough and clear phlegm. Mechanistically, it alleviates airway inflammation and remodeling by reducing inflammatory cell infiltration and decreasing levels of cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-4, IL-5, IL-6, and IL-10. Transcriptomic and proteomic studies indicate that its effects are mediated through inhibition of the NF-κB/STAT3 signaling pathway—reducing apoptosis (by lowering Bax/caspase-3 expression and increasing Bcl-2) as well as oxidative stress damage in lung tissue[1][7]. It has been used in China for over 20–30 years with an established safety profile[4][5].
