Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gubiao Jiedu Ling is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula developed by the Wuhan Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine (also known as Wuhan No. 1 Hospital) for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19. Formulated during the early stages of the pandemic in Wuhan, it is classified as a hospital-made preparation (院内制剂). The formula is designed to strengthen the body's defensive exterior (Gubiao) and clear heat and toxins (Jiedu), aligning with TCM principles for managing viral respiratory infections. It was primarily administered to high-risk medical staff for prevention and to patients with mild COVID-19 symptoms to prevent disease progression. The preparation typically consists of a blend of herbs such as Astragalus membranaceus, Atractylodes macrocephala, and Saposhnikovia divaricata (the Yu Ping Feng San base) combined with heat-clearing herbs like Lonicera japonica and Forsythia suspensa.
