Overview
Gucishangtongtie is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) topical plaster (patch) primarily indicated for the treatment of pain and inflammation associated with bone hyperplasia (osteophytes), cervical spondylosis, and osteoarthritis. Developed and manufactured by Hangzhou Tiancheng Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., the formulation typically consists of a complex mixture of herbal ingredients, including *Radix Aconiti* (Chuanwu), *Radix Aconiti Kusnezoffii* (Caowu), *Rheum palmatum* (Dahuang), Camphor, and Menthol. The therapeutic mechanism involves the topical absorption of active alkaloids and volatile oils that promote local blood circulation, dispel "wind-cold-dampness" (according to TCM theory), and provide analgesic effects by modulating pain receptors and inflammatory mediators. It is widely used in clinical practice in China for chronic musculoskeletal conditions characterized by joint stiffness and localized pain.
