Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gui-Lu-Er-Xian-Jiao-Wan is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula composed primarily of animal-derived gelatin (from tortoise shell and deer antler), Lycium fruit (goji berry), and red ginseng. It is traditionally used to tonify energy (qi) and spirit, nourish blood and yin, benefit the kidneys and liver, improve vision, support musculoskeletal health, promote circulation, address menopausal syndrome symptoms, osteoporosis, endocrine imbalances, impotence due to kidney deficiency or weakness/debility in elderly patients[2][8]. Modern research suggests it may enhance muscle strength by upregulating protein synthesis pathways (IGF-1/IGF-1R/IRS-1/Akt), improving glucose homeostasis via Glut4 translocation in skeletal muscle cells[4], supporting mitochondrial biogenesis (PGC-1a/NRF1/TFAM), increasing slow-twitch muscle fibers[4], reducing articular pain in osteoarthritis[7][1], alleviating chemotherapy-induced side effects such as weight loss or bone loss[5], and potentially improving intradialytic hypotension. The product is available as capsules or syrup.
