Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gui Lu San Huang Tang is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) decoction used primarily for hematological disorders, specifically aplastic anemia (AA) and myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). The formula is designed to address the TCM pattern of kidney essence deficiency combined with internal heat-toxin. It incorporates "Gui" (Plastrum Testudinis) and "Lu" (Cornu Cervi) to tonify the kidney and supplement marrow, alongside the "San Huang" components (typically Coptis chinensis, Scutellaria baicalensis, and Rheum palmatum) to clear heat and resolve toxins. Pharmacologically, the formula has been shown to regulate the immune microenvironment of the bone marrow, balance T-lymphocyte subsets (such as Th1/Th2 and Treg/Th17), and promote the proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic stem cells while inhibiting their apoptosis.
