Overview
Guihuang Decoction is a traditional Chinese medicine compound or formula that is being investigated for the treatment of chronic prostatitis (CP) and chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CPPS). Clinical studies have indicated its efficacy and safety in treating type III prostatitis with damp-heat stasis syndrome. Its therapeutic effects are believed to stem from its ability to reduce inflammation, alleviate oxidative stress, and suppress apoptosis in macrophages. The drug has been shown to decrease immune cell infiltration in the prostate and downregulate the expression of various proinflammatory cytokines.
