Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Guipi Decoction is a traditional Chinese herbal formula developed during the Song Dynasty and widely used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for over 700 years. It is primarily indicated for conditions associated with Spleen qi and Heart blood deficiency. The formula consists of multiple herbs including Astragalus Root (Huang Qi), White Atractylodes Rhizome (Bai Zhu), Licorice Root (Gan Cao), Poria (Fu Ling), Polygala Root (Yuan Zhi), Spiny Jujube Kernel (Suan Zao Ren), Vladimiria Root (Mu Xiang), Ginger (Sheng Jiang), Jujube Fruit (Da Zao), Chinese Angelica Root (Dang Gui), Longan Flesh (Long Yan Rou) and Ginseng Root. In TCM theory, it augments qi, nourishes blood, strengthens the spleen, and nourishes the heart[1][2][5]. Clinically it is used to address symptoms such as insomnia, poor memory, anemia, chronic fatigue[1][4][5], digestive issues like nausea or loss of appetite[3], diarrhea from spleen deficiency[3], and other manifestations of qi/blood deficiency. Its mechanism of action is based on traditional concepts rather than modern pharmacological targets; it acts as a tonic to restore balance between organ systems.
