Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Guixian granules (Guixian Keli) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine for the treatment of perimenopausal syndrome (menopausal syndrome) and associated symptoms such as hot flashes. The formulation is based on the TCM principle of tonifying the kidney and nourishing the blood. Pharmacologically, Guixian granules have been shown to modulate the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian (HPO) axis, leading to increased serum estradiol (E2) levels and decreased follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) levels. Research suggests it may exert its effects through the modulation of estrogen receptor (ERα and ERβ) signaling pathways and the regulation of central neurotransmitters like serotonin (5-HT) and norepinephrine (NE). It is widely used as a registered hospital preparation in China.
