Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gui Zhi Fu Ling capsule is a standardized traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation derived from the classical formula 'Guizhi Fuling Wan'. It is composed of five botanical extracts: *Ramulus Cinnamomi* (Gui Zhi), *Poria* (Fu Ling), *Cortex Moutan* (Mu Dan Pi), *Semen Persicae* (Tao Ren), and *Radix Paeoniae* (Shao Yao). Traditionally used in China for gynecological conditions such as uterine fibroids, endometriosis, and dysmenorrhea, the capsule formulation was modernized and commercially developed by Jiangsu Kanion Pharmaceutical. The drug is characterized by its ability to 'promote blood circulation and resolve blood stasis.' In contemporary clinical research, it is being investigated for its neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory properties, specifically to mitigate bortezomib-associated peripheral neuropathy (BIPN) in patients with multiple myeloma. Its mechanism involves the modulation of inflammatory cytokines, improvement of microcirculation, and potential inhibition of platelet aggregation.
