Overview
Guizhi Gancao Decoction is a classic Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Kampo formula consisting of two primary herbs: Cinnamomi Ramulus (Guizhi) and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao). Traditionally used to treat heart-yang deficiency characterized by palpitations and restlessness, it is currently being evaluated for its potential in managing post-COVID-19 syndrome symptoms, including fatigue, memory impairment, and sleep disturbances. The formula is thought to exert anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects, potentially modulating the autonomic nervous system and inflammatory cytokines through active constituents like cinnamaldehyde and glycyrrhizin.
