Overview

Guizhi Jia Longgu Muli Tang is a classic Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula originating from the *Shanghan Lun* (Treatise on Febrile Diseases). It is a modification of the Guizhi Tang (Cinnamon Twig Decoction) base, supplemented with Longgu (Fossilia Ossis Mastodi) and Muli (Ostreae Concha). The formula is traditionally used to treat "disharmony between Yin and Yang," characterized by symptoms such as palpitations, insomnia, spontaneous sweating, and nocturnal emissions. In modern clinical practice, it is investigated for conditions like allergic rhinitis, particularly in patients exhibiting Lung and Spleen deficiency syndromes, as well as various neuropsychiatric and autonomic nervous system disorders. The formula is thought to exert its effects through a multi-component approach that modulates the immune response and stabilizes the central and autonomic nervous systems.
