Overview
Gukang capsule is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation widely used in China for the treatment of bone fractures, osteoarthritis, and osteoporosis. It is indicated especially in cases attributed to "liver and kidney deficiency" and meridian stagnation according to TCM theory. The formulation contains multiple herbal ingredients designed to promote fracture healing by activating bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP-2) signaling pathways, which are involved in bone regeneration and repair. Clinical use includes reducing swelling, relieving pain, soothing sinews, and improving circulation through channels and network vessels. There have been reports of acute liver injury associated with its use.
