Guna-IL-1 is a low-dose pharmaceutical formulation of anti-interleukin-1 (IL-1) antibodies developed by Guna S.p.a. using their proprietary Sequential Kinetic Activation (SKA) technology. This approach is a core component of Physiological Regulating Medicine (PRM), which aims to restore homeostatic balance by administering low concentrations of biological signaling molecules such as cytokines, hormones, and antibodies. The drug is designed to modulate the inflammatory response by targeting and neutralizing IL-1, a pivotal pro-inflammatory cytokine involved in the pathogenesis of various chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. Administered orally, Guna-IL-1 is intended to downregulate IL-1-driven inflammatory processes and is currently in Phase 2 clinical development for several indications, including inflammatory bowel disease, vitiligo, psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, and osteoarthritis.
