Overview

Guselkumab is a human monoclonal IgG1 lambda antibody that selectively binds to the p19 subunit of interleukin-23 (IL-23), inhibiting its interaction with the IL-23 receptor. By blocking IL-23, a cytokine involved in inflammatory and immune responses, guselkumab reduces the release of proinflammatory cytokines and chemokines, thereby decreasing inflammation. It is primarily used for the treatment of moderate to severe plaque psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, Crohn's disease, and ulcerative colitis in adults. Guselkumab was developed by Janssen Pharmaceuticals and is marketed under the brand name Tremfya[3][5][6][7].
