Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gutcare is a dual-strain probiotic formulation containing *Bifidobacterium* (specifically *Bifidobacterium longum*) and *Clostridium butyricum*. It is designed to restore and maintain a healthy intestinal microflora balance. *Clostridium butyricum* is a gram-positive, anaerobic spore-forming bacterium that produces butyric acid, a short-chain fatty acid that supports the health of the intestinal lining and exerts anti-inflammatory effects. *Bifidobacterium* species are key components of the healthy human gut microbiome, known for inhibiting the growth of pathogenic bacteria and enhancing immune function. In clinical research, specifically a randomized trial conducted in Kabul by Professor Mansoor Aslamzai, Gutcare was evaluated for its potential to reduce feeding intolerance and improve weight gain in preterm and low birth weight neonates when used as a fortifier for breast milk.
