Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gutong patch is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) topical analgesic developed by Peking Union Medical College Hospital and manufactured by Guilin Sanjin Pharmaceutical. It is formulated as a transdermal patch containing a complex mixture of herbal extracts, including *Caulis Spatholobi*, *Radix Clematidis*, and *Rhizoma Drynariae*. The patch is primarily indicated for the treatment of joint pain associated with osteoarthritis, cervical spondylosis, and lumbar muscle strain. Its therapeutic effect is attributed to the synergistic action of its phytochemical constituents, which promote local blood circulation, reduce inflammation by inhibiting pro-inflammatory cytokines and enzymes like COX-2, and alleviate pain through the dispelling of wind and cold according to TCM principles.
