Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GV-328 is a mucoadhesive lozenge formulation developed by Laboratorios Galenicum for the treatment of oral aphthous stomatitis (canker sores). Regulated as a medical device, it contains high molecular weight hyaluronic acid (sodium hyaluronate) as its primary active component. The lozenge functions by forming a protective physical barrier over the oral mucosa, shielding exposed nerve endings from external stimuli and reducing pain, inflammation, and edema. Its mucoadhesive properties ensure prolonged contact with the lesion, facilitating tissue hydration and promoting the natural healing process. Clinical studies in pediatric populations have demonstrated that GV-328 is safe, effective in reducing pain intensity, and possesses high galenic acceptability.
