Overview
GVGH altSonflex1-2-3 is an investigational multivalent GMMA (Generalized Modules for Membrane Antigens)-based vaccine candidate developed by the GSK Vaccines Institute for Global Health (GVGH). It is a four-component O-antigen-based biologic vaccine targeting *Shigella sonnei* and *Shigella flexneri* serotypes 1b, 2a, and 3a, designed to provide broad protection against the most globally prevalent Shigella strains causing shigellosis (Shigella infection). The vaccine utilizes the GMMA platform, presenting outer membrane vesicles shed by genetically modified Gram-negative bacteria to display the target O-antigens. It is administered via intramuscular injection and is being evaluated in clinical trials, including Phase I/II and Phase II studies (such as NCT05073003 and NCT06663436), primarily targeting infants in shigellosis-endemic regions.
