Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GW‑813893 is a potent, selective, and orally active small molecule inhibitor of factor Xa, developed as an anticoagulant for the prevention and treatment of thromboembolic disorders such as venous thromboembolism. Its mechanism of action involves direct binding to the active site of factor Xa, thereby preventing the conversion of prothrombin to thrombin and inhibiting downstream coagulation processes. The drug was initially developed by GSK for cardiovascular indications but development was discontinued after reaching phase 2 clinical trials[3][5][6][7].
