GW799943X

GW799943X is an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) developed by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) for the treatment of persistent bronchial asthma. It acts as a potent agonist of the glucocorticoid receptor, designed to reduce the underlying airway inflammation characteristic of asthma. During its clinical development, GW799943X was evaluated in Phase 2 randomized, double-blind trials to assess its efficacy and safety when administered once daily via the Rotadisk/Diskhaler device. These studies compared the drug at various doses and dosing times against placebo and fluticasone propionate in adult patients symptomatic on low-dose inhaled corticosteroids. However, the development of GW799943X was discontinued, and it did not progress to late-stage clinical trials or regulatory approval.
