GW906 is an investigational, ultra-long-acting small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic designed for the treatment of hypertension. It works by targeting and degrading the mRNA of angiotensinogen (AGT) in the liver, which is the sole precursor of all angiotensin peptides in the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS). By inhibiting the production of AGT at its source, GW906 aims to provide potent and sustained blood pressure control with infrequent subcutaneous dosing. Clinical data from Phase 1 and Phase 2 studies have demonstrated that a single dose can lead to profound reductions in serum AGT levels (over 90%) and significant, durable decreases in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure for several months. The drug is being developed by Chengdu Guowei Biopharmaceutical (also known as TechGowell).
