Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GW9135 is a **PPARpan agonist**, a small molecule compound that activates all three subtypes of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARα, PPARγ, and to a lesser extent, PPARδ). It shows highest potency at PPARα and significant activity at PPARγ, with weaker potency at PPARδ. GW9135 has demonstrated the ability to induce transient weight loss and reduce fat mass in animal models, but with compensatory weight regain during continued dosing. Like other strong PPAR agonists, it also increases liver weight. It is used primarily as a research compound to study metabolic and obesity-related processes.[1][3]
