GX-BP2 is an mRNA-based bioPROTAC (biological Proteolysis-Targeting Chimera) being developed by Genexine for the treatment of atopic dermatitis and various cancers. The drug utilizes the proprietary EPDeg™ platform, acquired through Genexine's merger with EPD Biotherapeutics in 2024. This technology delivers fusion-protein degraders via mRNA-lipid nanoparticles (mRNA-LNP), which are designed to induce the targeted degradation of the Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 3 (STAT3) protein. By degrading STAT3, GX-BP2 aims to block downstream signaling pathways that are critical drivers of chronic inflammation and tumorigenesis. A key advantage of the EPDeg™ platform is its ability to remove the dependence on tissue-specific expression of E3 ligases, potentially overcoming limitations associated with traditional small-molecule PROTACs. GX-BP2 is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
