Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gyneffik is a vaginal probiotic treatment developed and marketed by Effik, specifically designed to restore and maintain a healthy vaginal microbiota. The product contains a high concentration of the specific probiotic strain *Lactobacillus plantarum* P 17630. This strain is characterized by its strong capacity to adhere to the vaginal mucosa, where it forms a protective biological barrier. By colonizing the vaginal environment, these lactobacilli produce lactic acid, which helps maintain the physiological acidic pH (around 4.5) necessary to inhibit the growth and attachment of pathogenic microorganisms such as *Candida albicans* and *Gardnerella vaginalis*. Gyneffik is typically indicated for the prevention of recurrent vaginal infections, such as bacterial vaginosis and vulvovaginal candidiasis, often following a course of antibiotic or antifungal therapy.
