Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gynoflorelle is a vaginal probiotic product developed and marketed by Medinova AG. It contains a high concentration of the specific bacterial strain *Lactobacillus acidophilus* KS400. The product is designed to restore and maintain a healthy vaginal microbiome, particularly following antibiotic or antifungal treatment, or during periods of hormonal fluctuation that disrupt the natural flora. By colonizing the vaginal mucosa, the lactobacilli produce lactic acid, which lowers the vaginal pH to a physiological level (approximately 4.0–4.5), thereby creating an environment that inhibits the growth of pathogenic bacteria and fungi. Unlike Medinova's related prescription product Gynoflor, Gynoflorelle does not contain the estrogen component estriol, making it a non-hormonal option for managing vaginal dysbiosis and preventing recurrent infections such as bacterial vaginosis and candidiasis.
