Gynophilus LP is a live biotherapeutic product designed for vaginal administration to restore and maintain a healthy vaginal microbiome. [1] It is formulated as a prolonged-release ("LP") vaginal tablet containing the specific probiotic strain *Lactobacillus casei rhamnosus* Döderlein (Lcr35). [1, 2, 3] The mechanism of action involves the colonization of the vagina by these lactobacilli, which produce lactic acid. [2, 11] This acidifies the vaginal environment, lowering the pH and thereby inhibiting the growth of pathogenic bacteria associated with conditions like bacterial vaginosis. [1, 11] The product is used to manage vaginal dysbiosis and prevent recurrent vaginal infections. [4, 8, 12] Gynophilus LP is manufactured by Besins Healthcare. [3, 4]
