Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gyntima Balance is a probiotic nutraceutical developed by AB-BIOTICS (a subsidiary of Kaneka) designed to address vaginal microbiota imbalance, vaginal discomfort, and the need for urogenital immune support. The product is a combination of the active probiotic strain *Lactobacillus gasseri* KABP-064 (also designated CECT 30648) along with biotin, selenium, zinc, and vitamin D. It operates via the oral-gut-vagina axis, where the probiotic strain survives gastrointestinal transit to colonize the vaginal tract. Its primary mechanism of action is the modulation of the vaginal microbiome, shifting dysbiotic Community State Types toward healthy, *Lactobacillus*-dominated vaginotypes. Clinical studies have demonstrated that oral administration enables vaginal colonization in a majority of healthy premenopausal women and exhibits inhibitory activity against common urogenital pathogens, including bacteria and yeast.
