Overview

Gypenoside TN-1 is a monosaccharide saponin derived from shade-dried Gynostemma pentaphyllum, a traditional medicinal plant. It has demonstrated therapeutic effects in treating non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in mice, likely through the activation of the Farnesoid X receptor (FXR)-FGF15 signaling pathway. Additionally, Gypenoside TN-1 has shown higher inhibitory activities against SMMC7721 and Bel7402 hepatoma cell lines compared to its precursor, Gypenoside XLVI, suggesting potential anticancer properties. It can be produced via enzymatic conversion of Gypenoside XLVI using naringinase.
