Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gypensapogenin I is a biologically active saponin compound extracted from the traditional Chinese herbal medicine *Gynostemma pentaphyllum*. It has demonstrated therapeutic potential in the treatment of ulcerative colitis by reducing intestinal inflammation and modulating the gut microbiota. Mechanistically, gypensapogenin I targets AKT serine/threonine kinase 1 (AKT1), thereby modulating the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway. Research indicates its efficacy in both in vivo and in vitro models of intestinal disease, where it helps restore microbial balance and suppress inflammatory responses.
