Overview

GZL-016 is an autologous T-cell receptor engineered T-cell (TCR-T) therapy developed by Lion TCR (Guangzhou Lion TCR Bioscience) for the treatment of Hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The therapy involves the genetic modification of a patient's T cells to express a specific TCR that recognizes HBV-derived peptides, such as those from the Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), presented by HLA molecules (typically HLA-A*11:01) on the surface of tumor cells. By targeting HBV-integrated malignant cells, GZL-016 aims to induce a specific and potent anti-tumor immune response. This approach is particularly relevant for HCC patients in Asia, where HBV infection is a primary driver of liver cancer. GZL-016 is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for safety and preliminary efficacy.
