Overview

H107e + CAF10b is a next-generation subunit vaccine candidate for the prevention of tuberculosis (TB), developed by Statens Serum Institut. The vaccine consists of two components: - H107e, which is a recombinant protein containing eight Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb)-specific antigens designed to elicit robust T cell responses. - CAF10b, a novel liposomal adjuvant incorporating a TLR9 agonist and optimized to induce strong Th1 and Th17 immune responses. The combination aims to complement or enhance the protective effect of BCG vaccination by generating novel T cell immunity against Mtb-specific antigens. Preclinical studies have shown that co-administration with BCG can further increase protection in previously BCG-primed animals. The vaccine is currently being evaluated in first-in-human phase 1 clinical trials for safety and immunogenicity in adults, including both people with and without Mtb infection[2][5][8]. The primary route of administration is intramuscular injection.
