Overview

A monovalent inactivated split-virion vaccine developed by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) to prevent infection from the 2009 pandemic influenza A (H1N1) virus. The vaccine contains hemagglutinin (HA) antigen derived from the WHO-recommended reassortant strain NYMC X-179A (A/California/07/2009). It was produced without an adjuvant and manufactured using processes consistent with seasonal trivalent influenza vaccines. The vaccine was evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials involving healthy children aged 6 to 35 months, testing 7.5 μg and 15 μg doses in a two-dose regimen to assess immunogenicity and safety. Multiple Chinese manufacturers produced versions of this vaccine using the same seed strain during the 2009 pandemic response.
